CIM is at the table! While not an advocacy association in itself, CIM is at the board table of a number of associations involved with raising awareness of issues facing our industry with municipal, provincial, federal, and international decision-makers. CIM participates by providing technical data and information where appropriate, and extending communication links to members of the minerals industry.In keeping with the Mining Association of Canada's goal to work closely with provincial and territorial mining associations and other industry groups across Canada and internationally, CIM because an associate member this year. MAC recently released its Environmental Progress Report 2000. This excellent report compiles details of various environmental performances and describes environmental monitoring and reporting initiatives. MAC's Environmental Policy is restated and two success "stories" of environmental excellence are incorporated into it. The publication is available on the MAC website: www.mining.ca. CIM members should ensure this report gets broad distrbution and that our industry's progress on environmental management is better understood.
