Alberta's Land Sale Produces 2009 Bonus High

Alberta's Aug. 5 land sale generated the highest bonus total so far in 2009 but the province continues to lag behind last year's pace by a wide margin. Wednesday's land'sale generated $22.9 million in bonus bids on 71 773 hectares for a per-hectare average of $318.63. The Aug. 6, 2008 sale attracted $43.1 million in bonus bids for 74 901 hectares, an average of $575.78 per hectare. So far in 2009, Alberta has collected $151.2 million in bonus bids compared to $744.6 million over the same period last year.
