Co-op serves20,000 French goat and sheep owners

During the last episode of our visit to France we visited Maison Riqitet, France's largest goat dairy. During our four-day stay at the Riquet dairy, Emmanuel Riqitet who had spent time on our dairy in Sebastopol, California served as our tour guide and translator. One day Emmanuel made an appointment for as to visit the headquarters of the Alliance Pastorale, a 63-year-ald association of goat and sheep producers thai has over 20,000 members. About 25% of ita members make their living with goals. Mostof them are in France, but some are in other countries. The Alliance headquarters are in Montmorillon, which is in the heart of the area where the majority of the goat cheese in France is produced. Ali S. Haldar, who met with us and gave us an in depthtour of the facilities, did his graduate work in the USA and speaks excellent English.
