Diarise or die!

The selling season has started and hopefully some money is coming in after all the stop orders. The old joie de vivre and the "buzz" that used to be a feature of the selling season have disappeared forever. With tobacco being a 20-month + crop thesedays, one has no sooner started to move tobacco off the farm than one is into seedbeds for the next irrigated crop. This makes tuning a tobacco set up quite a pressurised job, without all the gratuitous hassles outsiders give. In the good old days companies fell over themselves to give monthly planners and diaries to hang on your wall to gather dust. It is always so satisfying to get a new diary, open pristine clean pages and make the first new entries in neat handwriting. This soon disappears, the oldfamiliar scrawl and tattered pieces of papers with cryptic notes like "155 kg/ha" and no other reference all start to make it bulge. Nevertheless one cannot operate without a diary these days and with the amount one has to remember, especially as one gets older, to lose one's diary is a disaster.
