Characterization of Rhopalosiphum padi genotypes differing in the geographical origin by transmission efficiency of barley yellow dwarf viruses and molecular markers

Six R. padi genotypes collected from different geographical locations (D 1 and D 2 - Aschersleben, Germany, D 3 - Rostock, Germany; CZ 1 - Prague, Czech Republic; BG 1 - Sofia, Bulgaria; NZ 1 - Christchurch, New Zealand) were investigated for theirtransmission efficiencies of barley yellow dwarf viruses. The most effective vectors were the genotypes D 3 and NZ 1 followed by CZ 1, BG 1 and D 1. Molecular markers differentiating these aphid genotypes were not found.
