Manufacturing Strategy and Manufacturing System Flow Principle: A Decision Model Approach

According to an industry survey made within this research, Swedish manufacturing industries lack of structure in refining the formulated strategies to useful decision areas in lower hierarchy levels. Academic strategy literature has described the content and formulation of manufacturing strategies from a market perspective, but there is a gap between strategy formulation and implementation in practise. The purpose of this paper is to propose a decision model that links manufacturing strategy content to strategic decisions concerning the manufacturing system flow principle. The paper results in a strategy refinement from strategic decision categories to decision areas concerning the factory- and sub system flow principle.
