Low technology approach to better machinery reliability

Many articles, books and training classes instruct people how to use the newest technology to help plants improve machinery reliability. These almost always employ microprocessor-based computers, either in specialty devices, personal computers or plant process control control computers. However, many plants worldwide may either not have or desire to use this new technology. Numerous reasons, includinb budget, personnel training issues, lack of manpower or even political issues may preclude access to such technology.
