摘要

A leading industry body has appealed for infrastructure issues in Australia to be de-politicised. At the launch in Brisbane on 14 April, a CEDA Report "Infrastructure - Getting on with the job" - the Australian Council for Infrastructure Development (AusCID) said that, as an economic foundation stone of society, infrastructure deserved to be de-politicised in a similar way to what has been done for monetary policy. AusCID CEO, Dennis O'Neill said Australia deserved an advisory and consultative institution for national infrastructure with expert investor and consumer representation to point the way for long-term planning and delivery free from political interference. Mr. O'Neill put forward the suggestion for new institutional arrangements as one of three broad solutions to overcome what he called the infrastructure challenge facing Australians. The others were the need for a robust and ongoing micro-economic reform agenda and ongoing tax and regulatory reform.
