摘要

Beefing up the skills of managers in horticulture throws up unique challenges, says Lindsay Muir -a specialist trainer for managers and supervisors in horticulture. "Many people drawn to horticulture are very focused on plants and their love of growing them," says Muir, "so the business side of things presents challenges of its own." His most recent conundrum was a planteria manager on a course for senior garden centre staff, who said he loved the job but couldn't stand unlocking the gates to let the customers in. "He was happy just messing about with plants," recalls Muir.
