An underused and intimidating quarter of central Newcastle has become a vibrant public space thanks to a multiple award-winning landscape development. Trinity Gardens is a steep-sided dell linking the city centre to the Tyne quayside, home to the city's law courts and several blue-chip companies as well as the Millennium Bridge and Sage Arts Centre. It served as a car park by day, and was unused at night, until owner Newcastle City Council proposed the site's redevelopment seven years ago.
