New varieties could challenge the big three

Four new raspberry varieties are set to make a huge impact on the marketplace. The most promising cultivars bred at research centres have been put to the test by ADAS in HDC-funded trials and are thought to challenge the three most popular varieties in Britain. Horticultural consultant for ADAS Janet Allen said mid-season-fruiting Glen Ample and Tulameen and late-fruiting Octavia might not retain their dominance in the market for much longer, because growers are already recognising the good qualities of the three new varieties already available.
