Redistributing green space funds

Bristol is the latest council to consider selling off some green spaces to fund others. Rachil SiMsmfth reports. "Some of the residents are not too happy about it but if they look at the bigger picture they might think differently". The social and environmental benefits of urban public parks and open spaces are well known. In the 18th and 19th centuries, hundreds of parks were built to give industrial cities a green lung - and to give people a place to relax. Today, schemes such as the Heritage Lottery Fund are helping to revive these parks as the Government acknowledges their importance once more.
