Virtual Prototyping: To Compose Mechatronic Systems in VR Environment by Means of Ports and Joints

摘要

Virtual prototyping technology has been widely used to decrease the cost in the development of modern products. However, a typical mechatronic product includes mechanical parts, software components, electrical and electronic devices. To compose those multi-disciplinary components in VR environment becomes a great challenge in the virtual prototyping design for mechatronic products. This paper presents a solution, which uses the conceptual models of ports and joints to compose virtual components into a mechatronic system in VR environment. Concretely, we explore 1) the declaration of the conceptual models of ports and joints, 2) the matching conditions to guide the virtual system composition and 3) the interaction processes by means of ports and joints.
