Caring for Easter Plants

There is no doubt that many of you have received Easter plants and are wondering how to handle them and where will they fit in the garden. People who love plants, hate to throw Easter plants in the trash or in the compost bin, because they are livingthings. I was recently approached by the ladies altar society at our church informing me that they had saved all of the plants so that I could use them in the gardens around the church. The Capital, the Annapolis newspaper, ran an article in the "Home and Garden Section" giving explicit instruction on how to care for Easter plants. It was evident that the article was prepared by a staff writer with limited horticultural knowledge. This article was brought to my attention during a recent lecture presented at a master gardener's training meeting.
