Genetic variability and correlation studies in pearl millet

Pearl millet (Pennisetum americanum (L.) Luke) provides grain for human consumption and fodder for cattle. In breeding forage varieties, the main emphasis is to increase the leafiness and forage quality. Studies on variability using genetic parameters like genotypic co-efficient of variation, heritability and genetic advance are essential for initiating a breeding programmer. Apart from these, understanding about correlation and cause and effect relationships among fodder yield and its component characters, plays a major role in the selection programmer. Therefore, the present investigation was carried out to study, the variability, heritability, genetic advance and correlation in fodder bajra.
