POLYIMIDEREPLACES CARBONGRAPHITE INMACHINES FORPRODUCTIONOF GLASS CONTAINERS

A polyimide from DuPont is replacing carbon graphite in machines for the production of glass containers.Emhart Glass of Cham, Switzerland, is using the polyimide - called VespelSCP-5050 - to produce liners for pusher fingers in its high-performance machines. The pusher fingers are used to move up to four moulded glass containers - at temperatures up to 600℃ - from the dead plate to the conveyor belt in less than a second.
