An example of this focus is its STC (short time cycle) furnace for which engineering and supply is provided through a technology licensing agreement with Daido Steel (www.daido.co.jp). The STC furnace is a roller-hearth batch-type furnace that processes up to 20 percent faster and than a conventional box or bell type furnace, and also uses 40 percent less fuel than conventional furnaces. Product variability after spheroidizing and cold shear annealing is less than 2 percent.
