THE Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has published the findings of its latest sickness absence review, revealing proposals on how to reduce sickness absence costs for employers and the government and cut the total of around 300,000 people who move from work on to claim health-related benefits. The review's recommendations include a review of public sector sick pay rates, abolition of the compensation for employers with high rates of sickness absence, and a government-funded assessment service to provide occupational health support to workers off sick for more than four weeks.
