Draft strategy aims to spread HSE's load

THE HSE's new draft strategy for health and safety in the UK was launched in December with a clear message that the executive wants employers and industry bodies to share responsibility for reducing injury and ill-health rates. The draft sets 10 broad goals for the HSE and for health and safety management more broadly, including raising competence in risk management, promoting worker involvement, encouraging health and safety leadership, adapting resources and approaches to help small business compliance and reducing the likelihood of major incidents.
