The safety minster has been forced to defend the HSE over the accusation that it acts too slowly when bringing prosecutions against construction firms following a fatality. Minister of state for disabled people Justin Tomlinson, who oversees the HSE, said that the regulator's primary priority was investigating deaths at work and that it completes over 80% of investigations within a year of receiving authority from the police.
