摘要

THE CURRENT Noise Regulations, which set stricter limits on noise exposure at work, came into force for most people in April 2006. Part of the legislation won't come into force until 2011 (for seagoing ships), but the music and entertainment sectors, having been given two years longer than most industries, came within the limits last month. Studies show that up to 58 percent of classical musicians and 30 percent of rock and pop musicians suffer from music-induced hearing loss (at www.hearingreview.com select the March 2006 edition from "archives" and find the article by Kenneth Einhorn). DJs, support staff and people working in clubs in non-musical roles such as bar staff are also at risk from constant loud music.
