A teacher and the independent school for which he worked have admitted failing to ensure the safety of a pupil who died when an unseaworthy and overcrowded boat capsized on a school trip.Against the advice of another teacher, Paul Dove rook nine pupils from the Boundary Oak school in Fareham, Hampshire out into Portsmouth harbour on the school's 14ft motor boat after a planned sailing trip was cancelled due to bad weather. A boy fell overboard and had to be rescued, then the boat's engine stalled.As the children paddled back to shore in the blustery conditions, the boat capsized. Mr Dove failed to conduct a head count and did not notice that nine-year-old Elizabeth Bee was missing.
