Electronic permanent downhole monitoring systems have been installed in 15 of BP's U.K. assets. These investments have paid handsome dividends by helping BP achieve its well and reservoir optimization goals. The installations incorporated Schlumberger WeUWatcher systems, and BP changed its working practices to ensure success. The combination of these factors has led to an excellent record of system reliability.
