The Doha Accord and the launch of AFTA 2003 - the Asian poultry industry is gearing itself up for "good times ahead" with Thailand the acknowledged leader of the flock. If there is one thing the Asean poultry industry has learned it is that you can never have too much of a "good thing". After many years, under the Federation of Poultry Producers (FAPP) leadership fighting for "fair before free trade", the tables are finally turning and the poultry industry can look forward to better times ahead. This comes at as time when Asean poultry production has peaked every year since 1998. Poultry consnmption per capita in every Asean country is up, aside from Indonesia, which has recently been facing difficult economic times.
