'Egg sector has to take responsibility to earn credibility'

"I am in awe of the egg producing sector, if there is one sector that has to be congratulated it is the egg and poultry sector. There is no sector that stands out more in its potential, in terms of growth and in terms of its innovation. There is no sector that is so important when it comes to the issue of future protein demand of the world. And just to put the record straight here, of the seven billion people living on the planet, two billion don't get enough or the right kind of nutrition. There arealso two billion that have enough to eat, but are in the process of upgrading their diet. Here lies an enormous demand, especially in Asia and Africa, for animal protein. More than half of the world'spopulation doesn't eat adequately or not adequately at all. On top of this all, another two billion people will come along by the year 2050. So the challenge is to feed them."
