Amine functional adducts and curable compositions comprising same

This patent describes amino-functional adducts prepared from the reaction of a stoichiometric excess of a diamine and a compound having both an epoxide group and an α,β-unsaturated carbonyl group (eg glycidyl (meth)acrylate). The amine initially reacts with the α,β-unsaturated carbonyl group via a Michael addition reaction and will also reaction by addition with the epoxy group. The stoichiometric excess of amine means that there are at least 2 amine hydrogens present for each equivalent of epoxy and α,β-unsaturated carbonyl group combined.
