The last few years have been difficult for the European furniture coatings industry.Furniture makers have suffered competition from Eastern Europe and the Asia Pacific region and the building industry has declined.And now the 1999 Solvent Emissions Directive will require furniture manufacturers to either destroy VOCs using abatement technology or use coatings with no or lower solvent content.Additionally there is a risk that this legislation might hasten the global migration of the furniture industry.
