PetroChina to continue diesel imports amid shortage.

CHINA BEGAN IMPORTING DIESEL earlier in Nov. for the first time in nearly two years, as rising consumption led to shortages at many retail oudets. More recently, state-run PetroChina said it is planning additional diesel imports following purchases amounting to 200K mt (1.5MM bbl). Due to government-mandated restrictions on industrial electricity use, Chinese factories are purchasing large volumes of diesel to power generators. The increased industrial consumption is coinciding with rising demand from the agricultural sector during the autumn harvest, limiting diesel supplies at retail outlets for trucks and passenger cars.
