In the week to Aug. 7, prices for Western Canada Select (WCS) continued to plummet, following the US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) benchmark down. On Friday, WCS settled at $26.17/bbl, a discount of $17.70/bbl to WTT's closing price of $43.87/bbl. On Thursday, WCS settled at $27.47/bbl, which, according to Platts data, was the lowest since April 2006. Also, Canadian Syncrude setded at $40.86/bbl oh Thursday, a discount of $3.80/bbl to the benchmark.
