Kenya to take 2.5% stake in Ugandan refinery.

At the 8th Summit of the Eastern African Community, Kenya committed to take 2.5% of Uganda's Hoima refinery project. Along with other EAC members, Kenya had been invited to take an 8% stake in the project, but officials have not yet determined whether they will go any higher than 2.5%. "The point is really how much you can afford because of the limited budgets we face," said Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Petroleum and Energy Davis Chirchir. "Each partner state has been offered up to eight per cent stake in the refinery but in our case, we may not pick up all of it.. .if we had the resources we would take more, there is no question about that."
