After months of dominating spot LNG trade,the US is starting to lose ground to Asia and,to a lesser extent,Europe.US imports are already on the decline,and while many expect volumes to remain at around 3 billion cubic feet per day(1.95 million tons per month)through August,that could prove to be on the high side,given a likely surge in Asian spot demand on the back of Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s(Tepco)nuclear outages.
