Europe has cemented its position as the world leader in offshore wind deployment with roughly 1 gigawatt set to be installed in 2011 alone, taking the global total to around 4 GW, according to a new report from the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA). Wind In Our Sails, published this month, suggests a European industry that's headed up and up, buoyed by political targets embedded in National Renewable Energy Action Plans (NREAP) submitted by all 27 EU members to Brussels this year.
