HORIZON Russia Gets Germany on Side for Nord Stream-2

Gazprom has brought in the German heavy artillery in an attempt to win EU support for a massive new Russian pipeline to northern Europe on which it intends to sign a pipelay contract this fall. Berlin has thrown its full weight behind Nord Stream-2, starting with Chancellor Angela Merkel at the top. Her deputy, Sigmar Gabriel, is already onside and is expected to discuss the project with Russian President Vladimir Putin again this week.
