Venezuela's long-delayed LNG project has hit yet another hurdle, with state Petroleos de Venezuela (PDV) opting to develop without the aid of foreign companies the Mariscal Sucre fields that would feed one of three LNG trains. Factors deterring outsiders from helping Venezuela realize its LNG ambitions include the steep fall in global gas prices, as well as longer-standing objections to domestic investment conditions (WGI Sep.30,p4).
