With memories of the January disruption in Russian gas supplis still fresh, European Union leaders agreed at a Mar. 19-20 summit in Brussels to finance EUR3.98 billion (5.4 biliion) of energy projects over 2009-10 — more than one-third of which is to be used to help get planned gas pipelines off the drawing board (WGI Feb.4,p2).
