PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diesel fuel by subjecting a waste edible oil to transesterification with methanol and to separate and purify a by-product of the fuel useful as glycerol and a fuel for a fuel oil burner by performing neutralization, esterification and neutralizing reaction of the by-product of the fuel at a high yield. ;SOLUTION: Preferably, 100 pts. of a waste edible oil heated at 45-65°C is added with a solution composed of 15-25 pts. of methanol and 0.75-1.25 pts. of dissolved caustic soda as a catalyst, and the resultant mixture is reacted for 1hr, then a diesel fuel generated by transesterification is separated. Residual oil component (higher fatty acid and glycerol, etc.) is neutralized by using an acid and methanol is distilled and recovered, then the glycerol is separated. Further, 100 pts. of residual oil component (higher fatty acid) is added with a solution 15-25 pts. of methanol dissolved of 1-2 pts. of concentrated sulfuric acid and esterification reaction is performed, then sulfuric acid as a catalyst is neutralized by an alkali, thus washed and removed to obtain the objective fuel for a fuel oil-alternative burner.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1997,JPO
