Ex-Cheniere Chief Builds Anew at Tellurian

Cheniere Energy founder and former boss Charif Souki is building up his new US LNG export venture, Tellurian Investments, hiring former colleague Meg Gentle as president and chief executive. Cheniere announced Gentle's exit in a statement to the US Securities and Exchange Commission last month. She has agreed not to hire any other Cheniere employees for three months. Gentle, most recently Cheniere's marketing vice president, joins Souki and ex-BG chief operating officer Martin Houston at Tellurian. The two men founded the company in February to build mid-scale liquefaction and export projects along the US Gulf Coast, two months after Souki was ousted as Cheniere chairman and CEO in a boardroom coup engineered by activist investor Carl Icahn (WGI Dec.23'15). Souki will remain Tellurian non-executive chairman, with Houston — who left BG before its sale to Royal Dutch Shell after being passed over for the CEO job — executive vice chairman.
