China's state-controlled giants have long been thought to be under more pressure than any of their regional peers to balance supply and demand, faced with an excess of contracted LNG supply and lack of domestic downstream demand. The first cracks have now appeared, with China National Offshore Oil Corp. (CNOOC) last week launching what's widely considered to be the first-ever spot sell tender issued by an Asian buyer.
