In a bid to curb domestic gas consumption and preserve a decent surplus for export as pipeline gas and LNG, Algeria has published a more ambitious version of the renewable energy plan it first rolled out in 2011. But given that renewables still account for less than 0.01% of the country's 15 gigawatt power mix, critics question how serious the new targets really are.
