Northeast Asian spot prices rose a further 100 to $10.20 per million Btu as buying interest perked up ahead of the holidays, according to WGI assessments for LNG cargoes for delivery four to eight weeks ahead, but fell 600 to $8.50 in Southwest Europe. The UK National Balancing Point (NBP) day-ahead price assessed by WGI dropped by 510 to $7.89, while January NBP futures fell 150 to $8.24. . Netbacks for Mideast sellers were $ 1.64 higher on Asian than Southwest Europe deliveries, while UK-Belgian netbacks for Mideast sellers lagged Asia by about $2.40. WGI understands that a Chinese state buyer may have secured up to two cargoes for delivery between late January and February, priced in the high $9s to low $10s. The buyer is exploring the possibility of selling a February cargo as a swap deal, traders say.
