GM wraps up WT rollout with truck V-8s

General Motors Co. completes the rollout of variable-valve timing on its V-8-powered trucks with the '10 model year, a premium execution boosting fuel economy and refinement of the auto maker's pickups and SUVs. VVT is added to GM's 4.8L and 5.3L base engines. The cam-phasing technology already appears with active fuel management on its "premium" lineup of 6.0L and 6.2L truck engines. The 4.8L does not receive AFM, which shuts down four cylinders during light-load conditions.
