A Global Effort

The IR-4 Project expands its work with organizations worldwide to reduce pesticide trade barriers for U.S. specialty crop exports. THE IR-4 Project, which celebrated its 50th anniversary this year, is a multi-million dollar research organization focused on helping specialty crop growers with their crop protection needs. Taking itspresence beyond U.S. borders, however, will be a big part of the organization's future. American/Western Fruit Grower caught up with Dan Kunkel, associate director, Food and International Programs at IR-4, just prior to his trip to China for a meeting with the Codex Alimentarius Commission, or Codex Committee on Pesticide Residues, which is an organization that develops harmonized international food standards, among other things. The meeting focused on pesticide residues.
