Changing technologies in mechanical vineyard pruning have created two schools of thought. GRAPE pruning strategies have changed dramatically over the past decade in many viticultural areas of the world. The rising cost and declining availability of hand labor, an increasing awareness that modified pruning strategies can enhance productivity, and the continual improvement of pruning equipment have all contributed to these changes in pruning methods.
