National winner a quiet achiever

When Western Australian company PIHA was named the overall winner of the Case Earth Award at the national conference of the Civil Contractors Federation in late September, even some of the leading CCF members from WA were asking, "Who's that?" For a company that has been operating for a decade, and draws on nearly 20 years of experience in some of the toughest lobs and environments in the world, PIHA has established itself as a world leader in the -most technically advanced areas of the pipeline industry while maintaining a low profile in the general industry. According to general manager Bob Gavranich, it's no accident that PIHA has not gone in for heavy self-promotion. like Frank Sinatra, they do it their way. "There's nothing flash about us," Gavranich said. "We are what we are. We get a job and we do it right."
