A report from U.S.-based KMI Research projects that the FTTX market will grow at a compound annual rate of 26 percent through 2010. A press release from KMI press release noted that over the next five years, worldwide spending on fiberoptic systems for broadband access will total 77 billion dollars, growing from 8 billion dollars in 2006 to 21 billion dollars in 2010. The system figure includes transmission equipment, fiberoptic cable, and passive apparatus. The report, Worldwide Markets for Fiberoptics in Broadband Access Networks, covers fiber-fed DSL system architectures, such as fiber-to-the-node and fiber-to-the-curb, as well as fiber-to-the-building (FTTB) and fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) systems.
