A greater understanding of the relationship between learning, knowledge, quality and the cost of operation can increase efficiency and sales, and cut costs.Quality has long been a major consideration in the industrialized world. The wire and cable industry is no exception to this desire to reduce waste and improve the product being produced. Many methods have been incorporated to increase quality and much has been accomplished. Of course, there is always room for improvement. But at what cost? The cost of a product-the amount of money squeezed from profits-is one of the most important considerations to many practitioners when running a business. Everyone wants to have the highest quality in their product, but paying for it raises questions about its benefits. Quality in this sense means putting more money into preparation for sale or slowing down the production cycle time. It many even mean rethinking the way a time-tested process is achieved.
