Off-Camera Flash: Free your flash from your camera's hotshoe and achieve studio-style shots on location

One of the biggest revolutions in photography during the past few years has been the boom in shooting with off-camera flash. Also referred to as "strobist" photography it involves liberating your flashgun from the confines of your camera's hotshoe. By positioning your flashgun so that the light emitted is off-centre, your subject can be sculpted in light. This produces a much more pleasing and professional-looking result than you would achieve if the flash were fired attached to your camera.
