Off-camera flash: Create studio-style images on location with your flashgun

One of the biggest revolutions in photography over the past couple of years has been ability to unshackle your flashgun from the confines of your camera's hotshoe and triggering it remotely from another position. Referred to either as off-camera flash or strobist photography, it allows light to be emitted off-centre, producing a much more sculptured and professional-looking lighting effect, rather than just illuminating your subject face-on, which can produce relatively flat looking images in most cases.
