As a manufacturer known for producing 4×4's and snarling beasts like the Evo, you might assume that the Colt was something of an afterthought for Mitsubishi. Imagine visiting a Mitsubishi dealership and asking to see a Colt - a bit like going to a safari park to watch the Guinea Pigs? The disappointment on the salesman's face would have been palpable "Oh, a Colt sir? Well, we might have something out the back." Admittedly the previous incarnation hardly thrust itself to the fore. The appearance of a car making up the numbers in a market where the watchwords "funky" and "cool" had started to guide the designer's pencil, gave the old Colt a diminishing appeal.
