Mercedes B is no honey - Revised B-Class is greener and safer but still too costly

MERCEDES' FAMILY FRIENDLY B-Class has had a face-lift, but it's a subtle one. A few tweaks to the front end and similar mods to the rear make the Merc look a tad more butch. The bigger changes are under the skin, however. For a start, both diesel engines have been tuned to do a few more miles to the gallon. Hold fire until October and the 1.5 and 1.7-litre petrols will be fitted with stop-start technology as standard. That means they will use around 9% less fuel, and CO{sub}2 will also be cut.
